Reports that someone had entered Citadel High School with a gun sent police rushing to the school yesterday afternoon - only to discover the story was false.
Halifax Regional Police said in a release they received a call from a third party around 1:30 p.m., but when officers arrived on the scene, they were told by staff there was no evidence of a gun inside the school.
“As the investigation unfolded, it was determined that the initial complainant, who was not at the school, had received the information fourth or fifth hand,” a police release said. “Police cleared the scene shortly thereafter.”
Police were last called to the school on Nov. 16 in response to a stabbing on school property. A 16-year-old has been charged in connection with that incident.
