The friends and family of George Koutroubis have announced a $1,000 Facebook contest to join their group and post his poster in your profiles.

The purpose of the campaign is to proliferate the search for Koutroubis beyond the 5,200 people who have already joined the search.

The winner will be randomly selected Friday at noon and announced via media release. If the winner is a resident of Whitby, they will receive a $250 bonus.

Koutroubis, 36, was last seen Feb. 17 at 7:30 a.m., in the Front Street West/Blue Jays Way area. He was last heard from via his cellphone while driving a black, 2008 BMW X5 SUV with Ontario licence plate BCSS 209 in the Whitby area at 4:45 p.m. Feb. 17. The SUV has a Pittsburgh Steelers licence plate holder, but police say it may have been removed along with the plates.

Koutroubis is described as white, 5-foot-11, 230 pounds, with brown eyes and short, black, receding hair.
