Known for their patented, breathable footwear, Italian footwear company Geox is re-opening their flagship Yorkdale Mall store in Toronto on Tuesday.

With 2,900 square feet to shop in, the store is much larger than the usual 1,350 square feet in the other 25 Geox stores across Canada, and will house the largest children’s section in the world.

“Because of Geox’s increasing popularity in Canada, the brand has decided to expand their flagship location at Yorkdale Mall in line with their new fashion-forward image,” says Roslyn Costanza, spokesperson for Geox Canada.

Adding to their famed humidity-resistant shoes, featuring a micro-porous, waterproof sole, Geox is bringing a more fashionable approach to their designs. During Milan’s Fashion Week, which took place this past September, Geox designers showed off their talents with a shoe designed to look like the Empire State Building. The prototype, not for sale, was designed with a 5-inch heel inspired by the famous New York City building.

The fall-winter 2009 line features shoes for men, women and children. The Melissa Pump, available for $180, available in suede, has a thick architectural heel. The Roslyn Pump, a classic pump heel available for $180, also in suede. A trendy thigh high heeled boot, the Annette, is available for $300.
