Feasting on local fare

Taste me! Taste me!

That’s what my mind was screaming last Thursday night during the Savour Food and Wine Show at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. Some of the best chefs in town were cooking their top recipes while wine experts were teaching us which vino to pair with the dishes. The show was the wrap-up to a month-long celebration of Nova Scotia restaurants that included cooking classes and winery tours.

Halifax city councillor Sue Uteck was on hand to make sure the city was represented in fine style.

The Molson Give-R overtook the Alehouse Friday night for a good cause. This time, proceeds went to the QEII Foundation.

Thoughts of warm summer days on McNabs Island flooded my thoughts Saturday night at an annual dinner and auction. The Friends of McNabs Island Society held their fundraiser at the historic Royal Artillery Park complete with music and entertainment. The group organizes the yearly clean up of McNabs and Lawlor Islands and the money raised goes toward keeping the islands safe for generations of adventurers to visit.
