Feist and Blue Rodeo pick up two Junos each on first night of awards

CALGARY – Indie-favourite Feist appears to be everybody’s favourite and could be headed for a sweep at tonight’s Juno Awards in Calgary.

Feist jumped up in the air and clicked her heels after winning both artist of the year and songwriter of the year at last night’s Juno gala in Calgary, where the bulk of the awards are handed out.

She drew laughs from the crowd for writing her acceptance speech on her arm.

Feist could pick up three more tonight including single of the year, top album and best pop album.

Blue Rodeo could be in line for a third tonight in the group of the year category after winning for top adult alternative album and best video.

Toronto’s Jully Black is the reigning R&B artist and will be going up against Feist tonight for single of the year.
