Ferrari driver sought for high-speed chase

Police are on the hunt for the driver of a red Ferrari convertible who led police on a high-speed chase on the Barnet Highway, Port Moody police said Thursday.

An on-duty officer witnessed the Ferrari travelling eastbound toward Vancouver around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, driving erratically and at dangerous speeds.

Const. Bill Kim said the officer was attempting to catch up with the Ferrari when the cruiser lost control and hit a single-occupant minivan.

“It’s still unknown why the cruiser lost control. It may have been an oil slick, we just don’t know. It’s still under investigation,” said Kim.

Both the officer and occupant of the minivan were uninjured, but were taken to hospital as a precaution.
