Festival offering up stellar lineup

From days to now mere hours.

The 17th annual Eastern Front Theatre’s SuperNova Theatre Festival is kicking off tomorrow night with two shows at Neptune Studio Theatre.

“I guess it’s really happening,” festival artistic director Scott Burke said about the build up to the popular event.

“We’re really excited. It’s a great lineup and it should be some great shows.”

Piaf: Love Conquers All and The Bone House are the plays kicking off the festival tomorrow night.

Piaf: Love Conquers All celebrates the life and loves of French chanteuse Edith Piaf and will take to the Neptune stage at 7 p.m.

The Bone House — described by Burke as The Blair Witch Project on stage — tells the story of a notorious serial killer known as Midnight Cowboy and will follow the first show at 9 p.m.

Overall, this year’s festival has six plays with Neptune Studio Theatre serving as host.

“They’re going well,” Burke said of ticket sales.

“It’s always a bit of a last minute thing in Halifax in general, but we have some good advance on some of the shows.”

That includes One Man Lord of the Rings and Impromptu Splendor — the final two shows to hit the stage for the festival beginning May 5.
