A driver is dead and two other people seriously injured after a fiery crash between a bucket truck and a minivan that closed Russell Road yesterday.
Both vehicles were on fire when paramedics arrived at the scene of the collision at 6921 Russell Rd., between Carlsbad and Milton roads, at 2:55 p.m. yesterday. The driver of the minivan was trapped in the burning vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Ottawa paramedics spokes-man J.P. Trottier said it is believed that the driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
The driver in the utility truck, a man in his mid-20s, had to be airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries.
His passenger, also a man in his mid-20s, was treated for serious neck and back injuries. He is in serious but stable condition in hospital.
