Film aficionados aTwitter over VIFF’s dream job

Film buffs and culture junkies are being offered the chance to cover premieres, after-parties and gala events for the upcoming Vancouver International Film Festival.

Applications are being accepted until Sept. 25 for the Stella Artois Légère Insider, who will give fans an insider’s perspective on VIFF-related events via Twitter postings.

The paid position starts Sept. 29 and runs through to Oct. 20, said Martin Archambault, a spokesperson for Stella Artois, who added that the program was launched last week for the Toronto International Film Festival.

“It really gives a genuine side to (the festival),” Archambault said. “It’s great for everyone who doesn’t have access to all those special (events). Because of Twitter they feel they’re part of it at the same time.”

Archambault said the Vancouver candidate won’t have to take time off work and their expenses will be covered.

“We have to wait until we pick the winner to build the schedule because if the person works from nine to five, we can adapt the schedule. Most of the events are at night.”
