For an original, artistic fashion shopping experience there is only one place to go.

Portobello West Market visits Calgary for the third time this weekend just in time for Mother’s Day.

Starting Friday, 4 p.m., fashionistas can walk through the doors of the Big Four Building at Stampede Park into the world of accessories, clothing and art. Seventy-four vendors coming from across Canada will be showing off their talents.

Although this trip may cost more than heading to Chinook Centre, “The purchases have more meaning,” says market director Carlie Smith. “You’re going to keep them for a long time.”

According to Smith the variety of slogans seen for the market, “My style is bold” or “My style is sustainable,” represent the variety of fashion statements at the market.

“It’s really just to show that no matter what taste you have you will be able to find something at the market that really fits with you,” she said.

The majority of the vendors can only be found at the market. However, designers such as Shisomiso Influx Jewellery, and fiveleft can also be found in boutiques in Calgary.

Gifts are being handed out to the first 25 customers through the door each day and on Sunday all mothers will receive a similar goodie bag.
