Hundreds have signed on to brave the cold and run along the Bow River pathway Saturday for the inaugural Sight Night event, put on by the Alberta Sports & Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB).

Participants will gather around Eau Claire Market at 6 p.m. and head out for a eight-kilometre run or three-kilometre walk using headlamps to light the way.

Taking part in the event will be blind athlete and former goalball Paralympian Kevin Kaminski, former Calgary mayor Dave Bronconnier and Jose Neto, a Brazilian student who was blinded when struck by a stray bullet in downtown Calgary roughly two years ago.
