Fire department demands notice of open-air fires

In response to a rash of recent grass fires, Ottawa Fire Services is cracking down on residents who start unauthorized open-air fires.

Residents must contact Ottawa Fire Services prior to the burn to verify if any restrictions, such as dry or windy condition, are in place.

Failure to comply with the bylaw could result in a fine of up to $5,000.
