An abandoned home in the city’s west end burned to the ground early yesterday morning and fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked the blaze.

Firefighters were called to the unoccupied home at 101 Street and 140 Avenue shortly after 5:30 a.m.

Flames were seen shooting out of the two-storey home before firefighters were able to contain the blaze sometime around 9 a.m. No tally has been made on the damages.

Firefighters, meanwhile, were also busy dealing with a vehicle that was found ablaze near 45 Street and 26 Avenue yesterday morning.

Fire investigators say the blaze may have been purposely set and damages have been pegged at $25,000.
