We love it when celebrities or political figures join social media. It’s an express ticket to amusement, and news if you consider what happened to Anthony Weiner.
The newest member of Instagram will keep it classy, we’re sure. First Lady Michelle Obama joined the photo sharing service. Her first photo was of her, her daughter Malia and several other women they met on the first family trip to Africa.

“My first instagram!” she wrote in the caption. “So inspired and so impressed by these extraordinary young women. –mo #FLOTUSinAfrica.”
As of Thursday afternoon, Michelle Obama is only following one other Instagram account – the White House. We wonder if she’ll start following her husband, President Barack Obama, who has more than 2 million followers.
The First Lady has already racked up more than 17,000 followers.
So far she has used the filters Mayfair and Valencia – solid choices. We can’t wait for her to take a selfie from a fancy White House bathroom.
