Five appear in court following major drug bust

Halifax Regional Police have charged five people in connection with a major drug bust in Eastern Passage last week.

Troy Allan Osborne, 42, Robert Edward Moore, 37, David Paul Hartlen, 37, and Wendy Evelyn Drake, 36, have all been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

William Jonathan Ellis, 43, is also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of ammunition contrary to a court order, and unsafe storage of ammunition. All five suspects appeared before a judge in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Friday.

On Thursday afternoon, police seized 263 pounds of marijuana at a home in the 1300 block of Main Road. The drugs were allegedly being processed and prepared for shipment when officers arrived on the scene. Police also discovered a large amount of cash, drug paraphernalia and ammunition on the premises.

The street value of the marijuana is estimated at over $1 million.
