On tonight’s episode, Adam invited me up to a wakeboard camp where he taught me few tricks on the board, and in exchange I’d like to think I rescued him from certain death by DIY disaster. If you enjoy the peaceful lapping of waves at the water’s edge, the serenity of towering pines and chirping birds in cottage country… or flying through the air upside down on a wakeboard behind a high performance boat — Basecamp is for you. If you’re more inclined to relax with your favourite book on a wet and mouldy couch while admiring the view from an old, rotten, precarious deck that’s about to fall off the front of the cottage into the lake, they had that option too — until now.
Scott is the director of Basecamp, where groups of youngsters go to learn how to fly from the best. But he’s also guilty of a common cottage crime: ignoring important unseen dangers, using the wrong material, and recycling rotten lumber that’s outlived it usefulness. I set him, and his deck, straight on Disaster DIY tonight.
