This weekend, fanciful flights soar to great heights as the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival takes to the skies for its 23rd edition.
The festival, which kicks off tomorrow evening at La Baie Park, offers more than a glimpse of dozens of balloons from all over the world.
The event includes performances by Juno-award winning Canadian band Our Lady Peace and pop rockers Hedley, as well as extreme sport demos, a graffiti contest, an amusement park and a classic car exhibition.
But the biggest attraction is the balloons themselves, which include ones shaped like twin bees, an angel, a devil, a four-leaf clover, a jack-in-the-box, a ladybug, a clown, and a beagle. There are seven scheduled flights between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., weather permitting.
