Flood strikes apartments

Nearly 100 residents of a city-owned southwest apartment building were forced from their homes yesterday after a water pipe burst and flooded multiple suites.

Nearly 100 residents of a city-owned southwest apartment building were forced from their homes yesterday after a water pipe burst and flooded multiple suites.

While the majority of residents were able to return to their homes on Barberry Walk later in the day, a few had to be put up in hotels, said Calgary Housing Company representative James Robertson.

Calgary fire spokesperson Brian McAsey said the flood occurred after a window was left open near the frozen pipe, causing it to burst.
