City police laid numerous drug and weapons charges against 22 known gang members last month, seizing drug, guns, stolen property and cash in the process.
Acting Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta of the organized crime unit said five weapons, including a handgun, three knives and pepper spray, were seized, as well as $28,590 in cocaine and $20,000 in cash.
“Our goal is to disrupt gang activities as much as we can and make it very uncomfortable to be a gang member in Calgary and we continue to do that,” Schiavetta said.
Police laid 20 breaches of court-ordered conditions, 14 weapons-related charges, 11 drug charges, six stolen property charges, four obstruction charges and five assault charges.
