Focus on jacket silhouettes

Black Jackets
Preppy black and navy blue blazers were a popular choice for jackets early fall last year. Stylists paired it with dresses, jeans and sweaters. Common accessories for the conservative jacket were belts and bold metal military-inspired buttons. This year the jacket takes on different cuts and forms. Designers have taken the shape and fit into account and have focused on the silhouette of the jacket. Slim fit and cropped jackets are a thing of the past. This year, look out for loose fit and moderate length jackets.

Jean Trends
Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman made the boyfriend cardigan a big hit last season. This spring the slouchy boyfriend jean is the thing to wear. However, the slim fit jean is still here to stay; we are seeing a lighter washed up version with frays on the edges.

Accessory
Opt for a faux pout with Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker lip plumping gloss, $10. Available exclusively at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Ask Kim
Q. When should I expect spring collections to start rolling into the stores this year?

A. At this time of year many outdoor stores and malls are having their sidewalk sales. This means old holiday inventory wear is being pushed out of the doors and sold outside to make room for their spring inventory. Spring collections should start coming in late January to early February.?In the meantime, take advantage of the sales and grab some basics.
