Employees from an idle wireless company helped assemble Christmas food bags for the needy yesterday.

More than 150 executives, managers and staff employees at WIND Mobile, shut out of the Canadian market by a recent regulatory decision, volunteered to pack bags at Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.

“It’s great to see employees come together and commit themselves,” said Anthony Lacavera, chief executive of Globalive Wireless Management Corp., known by the brand name WIND Mobile.

Under the program launched by the food bank last year and sponsored by the Toronto Star’s Santa Claus Fund, more than 10,000 families are to receive the bags.

Each is packed with 8 kg of food, including pancake mix and syrup for Christmas breakfast, tangerines, staple food items and treats.
