Channel offers festive recipes, entertaining ideas
The Food Jammers are celebrating this festive time of year with a holiday show airing this Sunday.
The holiday season is here and the Food Network has recipes that will warm the heart and entertaining ideas that will fill the home with cheer. Here is a partial list of what the Food Network has in store this time of year.
•Food Jammers Holiday Special Sunday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. The Food Jammers are celebrating the holidays by creating their own brand of feast by re-interpreting the magic of the tree’s place in the holiday tradition. They section a sugar maple and carve each log into food vessels in which to cook. From here the guys adapt timeless cooking methods using wood-fired hot granite rocks to design their menu. They cook up fire-roasted partridges with caramelized pears and chestnuts, matured in a wine-seared sugar maple log, followed by wild-caught B.C. salmon infused with sake, a hearty mix of root veggies and wild rice mixed with kale.
•12 Days Of Cookies Monday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. What is a holiday season without cookies? Take a peek inside the homes of cookie makers from around the United States as they recall tales of their own cookie traditions.
•Paula’s Southern Christmas Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. Follow Paula Deen as she shares her family holiday traditions in historic Savannah, Ga. Deen makes a special Christmas meal with southern style, served in a Savannah mansion.
•Iron Chef America: Flay/DeLaurentiis vs. Batali/Ray Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. It’s the women vs. the men on this episode. Food Network all stars Rachael Ray and Giada De Laurentiis come to kitchen stadium to battle it out. In a special twist, the Chairman decides to pair them with Iron Chefs Bobby Flay and Mario Batali in an unexpected battle.
•30 Minute Meals: Holiday Cookin’ Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m. EST. Join Rachael Ray as she makes a meal of tangy cherry chicken, seared red chard, and mint chocolate chip cookies with ice cream for the winter holidays.
•Good Deal With Dave Lieberman: Holiday Cocktail Party Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3:30 p.m. EST. Dave Lieberman is throwing a holiday cocktail party with a sandwich bar and all the fixings and a gorgeous roast ham as the centerpiece.
•Paula’s Home Cooking: Southern Holiday Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. EST. Paula Dean shares some of her favourite cookie recipes for the holiday season — including hidden mint cookies, monster cookies, gingerbread cookies and pecan clusters.
•Easy Entertaining: Holiday Cookie Exchange Sunday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m. EST Join Michael Chiarello as he pulls out all of his family’s holiday favourites, and invites a few guests to cook their Italian specialties.
•Unwrapped: Christmas Cookies Sunday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. EST. On this holiday episode of Unwrapped the first stop is to Wilton School to watch cookies bake up, see how to make an edible snow globe and check out how colour-a-cookie kits make decorating fun for the kids.
•Gingerbread Championship Sunday, Dec.17 at 7 p.m. EST. This episode features beautiful homes, amusement parks, barns, and churches all made of gingerbread. A record 300 gingerbread creations were brought to this 12th annual championship in Asheville, N.C.
