Food tampering at three south Calgary Sobeys

Calgary Police are investigating three incidents of food tampering at Sobeys locations in south Calgary.

On Tuesday, police were called to the Millrise SW Sobeys after reports of a metal item found in an avocado. The victim didn’t find the metal until she cut into the avocado. The produce had been purchased the previous Saturday from the location.

While investigating these incidents, they were informed by staff at the Sobeys of other tampering incidents over the weekend.

One case involved a McKenzie Towne Sobeys customer biting into a Kaiser roll and finding a metal item.

The second case also involved a Kaiser bun with a metal item inside at the Cranston Sobeys.

District 8 detectives are now investigating all of the food tampering incidents.

In the meantime, Calgary Police are warning Calgarians to thoroughly inspect their food purchased from city grocers.
