Front-runner Rob Ford has won the support of a former rival in his race for the mayor’s chair in Toronto.

Ford, who has a commanding lead in public opinion polls, got the endorsement yesterday of Giorgio Mammoliti.

The city councillor, who ended his bid for mayor in July, says there’s a ballooning bureaucracy at city hall, and Ford has tapped into the anger felt by Toronto residents.

He says it’s clear the city is looking for “absolute” change on Oct. 25, and after speaking with all the other candidates, he’s decided Ford is the only candidate who can deliver.
