Re: “Family pleads for ‘real truth,’ ” Jan. 11:
It seems that only the victim’s family can understand how apathetic our Foreign Affairs department can be.

God forbid the rest of us have to experience what the DePriscos or the Ianieros are going through.
Why do we give our tax dollars to this department, if they can’t be depended on to get involved?
At the minimum, you would think these high profile cases would cause some kind of concern.
All Canadians should feel that if something goes horribly wrong outside of Canada, the Canadian government won’t be so unresponsively blank.
Shutting down the department and putting the tax dollars saved towards a fund that can help Canadian victims abroad and their families may be the answer.
