Halifax basketball standout Tyler Richards will go trial early next year on charges of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
The provincial court trial will take place Jan. 18 and 19 in Antigonish.
Richards, along with two other members of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men basketball team, were charged following an incident in Antigonish in the early morning hours of Feb. 1 that police say led to a student being assaulted.
Eamon Morrissy of Halifax and William Donkoh of Nepean, Ont., will also be on trial Jan. 18 and 19 facing one count each of assault causing bodily harm.
Richards was in his fifth-and-final season with St. F.X. and, along with Morrissy and Donkoh, was suspended by the university for the playoffs after being charged.
