Fort Calgary feels Spring Fever

Easter Sunday’s Spring Fever event at Fort Calgary provided Andy Stumborg with a great opportunity to spend quality time with his family.

Andy and his wife, Sabrina, enjoyed their first visit to Fort Calgary with their twin four-year-old daughters Sierra and Jocelyn.

“We like to spend a lot of time together on the weekends,” said Andy, who values his family time after working his construction job all week.

“On weekends, just being able to (do) something like this as a family, it’s awesome,” said Sabrina.

“It’s very important because my husband works all week and I’m a stay-at-home mom.”

Sabrina said her daughters could hardly contain their excitement prior to arriving at Fort Calgary.

“They love face painting and they knew the Easter bunny was going to be here, too, so they wanted to see him,” she said.

While taking part in the colouring competition, Sierra and Jocelyn were eagerly anticipating getting their faces painted.

“I like colouring and all this fun stuff,” said Sierra, who pointed out that she and her sister aren’t identical twins.

“We’re a little bit different. I got my curls from my daddy’s side of the family.”

Watching his three-year-old daughter Keira getting her face painted by Zhu-Zhu the Clown, Jed Olafson commended the organizers of this year’s Spring Fling.

“It’s a great time and it’s a great day out for the kids,” he said of the Spring Fever event.
