Four passengers are missing after their single-engine plane disappeared en route to Victoria from Penticton.

The privately owned plane took off just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday and was supposed to arrive at 7:30 in Victoria.

When it didn’t arrive, the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre sent out a Buffalo search-and-rescue plane and a helicopter.

A second helicopter was added yesterday morning, but by deadline there was no sign of the single-engine plane. The Civil Air Search and Rescue team, a volunteer group that spends its own time looking for lost aircraft, is helping look for the plane.

The identities of the missing travellers have not been released.
