In response to a rash of car thefts in the Lower Mainland, ICBC has teamed up with the RCMP and the City of Surrey to give out free steering wheel locks to the owners of targeted vehicles.
Recently, pre-2001 model Honda, Acura and Toyota vehicles have topped stolen vehicle lists.
While locks will be given out over the next few weeks, a limited number of the devices will be distributed by RCMP in White Rock this Saturday during an open house. The event will be held at the community policing office on Pacific Avenue from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The freebies will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Owners whose vehicles are on the list of the Top 10 that are stolen in the Lower Mainland also qualify.
