Fresh face will represent Ward 11

There will be a fresh face representing Ward 11 once the votes are tallied on Oct. 18.

Dave Thiele is retiring and Amarjeet Sohi is running in Ward 12, opening the door for one of six candidates vying for the one seat on council.

Shane Bergdahl has lived in Millwoods for the past 13 years. He has a long list of volunteer positions, including past president of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues and the Millwoods Presidents’ Council.

Kerry Diotte, a former columnist for the Edmonton Sun, said as a journalist and civic affairs columnist, he has already proven he can get things done for people.

Vishal Luthra is a former soldier who vows to bring his passion and fiscal responsibility to city hall.

Roberto Maglalang is running for council for the first time. He most recently was a human resources manager before deciding to run for public office.

Chinwe Okelu is no stranger to civic politics having run for council in the last four elections.

He is a former employee of the provincial government and has experience in municipal affairs and intergovernmental issues.

Finally, Brent Schaffrick has worked in the oil sector but decided to turn to civic politics as a way to voice his displeasure with the current council.
