Despite a rainy start to the 2010 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival, thousands of patrons have enjoyed the Fringe’s sights, sounds and tastes since the kickoff last Thursday, with a record 3,600 visitors to the ever-popular KidsFringe area on Sunday.

Festival artists have sold a record 50,000 tickets to date, while nearly 100 of the Festival’s 1,250 productions are sold out. The 2009 Fringe sold 92,630 performance tickets, and this year’s attendance goal is to host 100,000 patrons at ticketed events.

The Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival runs until Aug. 22 in venues throughout Old Strathcona and beyond. Tickets and information are available at www.fringetheatre.ca.
