Fringe fest set to take Calgarians to edge

Uncensored, unexpected and unforgettable — live life on the fringe during the upcoming 2009 Calgary Fringe Festival kicking off this Friday for nine performance-filled days.

Now in its fourth year, the Fringe festival really has a place to call home in Inglewood, according to festival director Michele Gallant.

“Being in Inglewood gives us a chance to have everything within ten minutes walking distance, you can literally run from show to show they are so close together,” Gallant said of the location.

And there is sure to be something for everyone from musicals, comedies, family and children’s shows and uncensored shows too, with all ticket proceeds going directly back to the artists, she added.

Also new this year is the Inglewood Sun Fest on Saturday Aug. 1 with buskers, street performances and food, among other things.

“There is any type of art and performances you can think of on any given day,” Gallant said.
