Martin Frk has been recognized as the Halifax Mooseheads’ winner of the RDS mid-season top rookie award.

The QMJHL released a list yesterday selecting the top rookie from each of the league’s 18 teams.

The 17-year-old right-winger from Bochov, Czech Republic, leads the Mooseheads in scoring and is second in the league among rookies with 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 31 games.

Frk will leave the Mooseheads on Dec. 15 to try out for the Czech Republic’s entry at the IIHF world junior championship.

Halifax’s Taylor Burke took the honour for the Gatineau Olympiques. The 16-year-old, drafted seventh overall last June, has two goals and seven assists along with a plus-6 rating in 24 games.
