The Big Four: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk — are the four incredible mountains with dozens of different ski runs for all ability levels.
This is the highest concentration of ski areas anywhere in the state of Colorado so there is always something for everyone.
Among them lies Aztec Run on Aspen Mountain. It was used as part of the World Cup Downhill course and is every skier’s dream. If you are confident enough on your skis then this run is absolutely not to be missed.
Something else not to be missed is the Winter X Games at Buttermilk. These extreme sports games have been held here since 2002. Expect to see some world class, heart pumping action over a range of skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling competitions. You’ll have to fight your way through the crowds though.
And when you’re done on the hills there are more than 100 bars, restaurants and fantastic music never far away — from local jazz groups playing in small bars to The Offspring and Ziggy Marley.
