Full-time professors at the University of Calgary make the second-highest average wage in the country, according to a Statistics Canada report released Wednesday.
The full-time professors earned on average $146,809.
The new facts have some students who have been protesting a hike to their tuition fees wondering if they’re getting their money’s worth.
“The job of a professor has certainly not gotten harder,” said James Cook, a first-year business student who’s tuition is nearly doubling next year. He calls the numbers “absolutely ridiculous”
But Lauren Webber, president of the student union, said “as long as the level of salary coincides with the level of teaching,” the numbers were justified. “We support investment in our professors,” she said.
