Fun times for frosh

Free pizza, free chocolate bars, and free phone cards were just some of the things that Club Metro was handing out to Grant MacEwan students this week as they returned to school.

Free pizza, free chocolate bars, and free phone cards were just some of the things that Club Metro was handing out to Grant MacEwan students this week as they returned to school.

Students stopping by the stylish Club Metro Lounge — with its soft and comfy white couches — also had their names entered in a draw for a brand new 2011 Mini Cooper.

Additionally, they got to try out the smallest Android phone in the world, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 Mini, which was another one of the prizes up for grabs.

“A lot of our readers are between the ages of 18-24,” explained Metro’s senior marketing manager, Robyn Payne. “So we want to be here because this is where our readers are and it’s a great time of year to introduce new readers to Metro as well.

“A lot of people are coming here today who might not necessarily be familiar with Edmonton or with Metro, so it’s a great way to introduce them our newspaper and Club Metro, which is our loyalty program.”

The Club Metro area was a flurry of activity all day, as it played host to Twister games, hula hooping contests, and even the occasional dance contest.

Club Metro is on site at special events around the city throughout the year. Readers can also always join Club Metro online, where they can enter to win movie passes, gift certificates, and trips all over the world.
