The federal government is investing $61.1 million to get more technology from the lab to the marketplace, the industry minister said here yesterday.
Speaking in downtown Ottawa, Tony Clement announced the funding of five new Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research.
“It’s through these types of programs that all Canadians can benefit from the incredible work our researchers are performing,” he said. “Our government remains committed to supporting innovation from the lab bench to the store shelf.”
The funding focuses on environmental science, natural resources and energy, health, and information and communication technologies. So far, the Harper government has committed $225 million in funding for 17 centres.
