Gang member charged with punching puppy in the face

Here’s the most terrible thing you’ve heard all day. A self-admitted gang member punched his puppy in the face because it wouldn’t stop barking.

Spoiler alert, if you’re a sucker for happy endings: The dog lived.

According to the Chicago Tribune, police responded to an animal abuse complaint yesterday at a home on the North Side of Chicago. Officers found a 6-month-old brown puppy “cowering in a corner.”

Its owner, 32-year-old Taj Oatis, admitted that he punched the puppy in its tiny, innocent little face because it would not stop barking. The animal’s eyes suffered broken blood vessels and blood around the pupils.

Apparently, Oatis is a convicted felon who also had an outstanding traffic warrant. He was permitted to own pets. Police charged him with cruelty to animals and possession of certain dogs by a felon.

What kind of monster (allegedly) does this?
