Former U.S. president George W. Bush was the keynote speaker at a business networking event held at Fox Harb’r Resort on Monday.
On Saturday, the Truro Daily News first reported that rumours of his visit were circulating throughout the region.

The annual event, which brings together senior business and political leaders from across North America, has been hosted by former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna for the past nine years.
Residents living in the secluded rural areas surrounding the resort noticed an increased presence of security during the meeting, however Bush’s visit did not seem to create a buzz of excitement in the local community.
“I guess we’ve grown so accustomed to celebrities being there, people around here don’t pay much attention to who’s there,” said Wallace resident Donna Weeks. “It doesn’t influence our life.”
