Canadian indie darlings, A.C. Newman maybe the darlingest. The hogtown hipsters are already atwitter about this second solo release from the creative light behind the New Pornographers. But let’s keep our feet on the ground.
This is not an earth-shaking epic that is going to change the face of alt-rock. It is a charming, intelligent little album with roots squarely in the ’60s English psychedelic scene, offering up nods to acid-era Donovan Leitch, Syd Barrett and early David Bowie.
No reason to disband the New Pornographers, yet.
