No Caribana weekend would be complete without the legendary King & Queen Show, which will be held tonight at Lamport Stadium from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The competition showcases some of the most enormous and impressive costumes ever devised, complete with 20-foot tall plumage and dazzling colours.

Kings and Queens will be judged on six categories including creativity and craftsmanship. Committee member Eric Delfish says the contest brings out the best of Caribana.

“It’s very competitive — everyone puts their best out on the stage. It is a spectacle, something one has to see to truly understand. Each costume tells a story and has to have a good concept and design,” Delfish said
