Leading up to Remembrance Day, visitors to the Rutherford House Provincial Historic Site yesterday experienced a taste of what it could have been like during World War I at the home front.
“We are focusing mainly on the home front … what were women, men and children doing here in Canada while their spouse were out fighting overseas?” said Carla Hedin, event specialist.
In addition to displays featuring items sent to soldier in care packages, visitors were given samples of what soldier ate during war and what was cooked at home.
The one-day event has taken place for over a decade.
