Luanna Leitao is a different person when she sings.

Without a melody she speaks quietly and appears almost painfully shy.

But with a song on her lips, the 12-year-old from Keswick is transformed.

“When I sing, I feel like I’m in my own world; all my worries go away.”

Tomorrow, Luanna releases an album of her favourite pop covers to raise money for the SickKids Foundation, the fundraising organization for the Hospital for Sick Children.

“I wanted to do something that I like to do and something that helps other people,” she said.

Ironically titled Untitled, the album features Luanna belting out and playing piano on 10 songs by artists such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay and Alicia Keys.

The album was professionally recorded at Connors Music in Keswick with the jewel cases and artwork hand-assembled by Luanna and her mother.
