GM workers feeling relief

General Motors workers in Oshawa say they’re relieved by news of government bailouts as the company seeks bankruptcy protection in the U.S.

Many outside the GM car plant say they were resigned to the fact the automaker would have to restructure significantly to survive.

Frank Mazzei says he’s happy to keep his job, but would like to see management take a pay cut to help the company go forward.

Andrew Taylor, who was just called back to work yesterday after being laid off from the truck plant, which has closed, says many workers inside were among the last to hear the latest news.

Philip Wallace says younger workers with lower seniority were the ones expressing worry inside the plant.
