Good Samaritan gets ‘life-threatening’ injuries in beating

A restaurant patron was beaten unconscious early Friday morning when he came to aid the staff.

Calgary Police say two men, possibly impaired by drugs or alcohol, went into a downtown fast food restaurant at 7 Avenue and 8 Street S.W. at about 2 a.m.

The duo were being aggressive toward an employee when a male customer attempted to intervene.

The two turned on this man who beat him unconscious. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Both suspects are described as Caucasian, one with dark-brown hair and a medium build and the other with light-brown hair and a small-to-medium build.

Police believe this was an unprovoked attack.

Investigators know there were witnesses in the restaurant who they have not spoken to. These witnesses are asked to call police immediately, as their information may be vital to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
