Good weather aids triathlon winner

A New Yorker who trains out of Penticton won the Half Iron event of the Vancouver leg of the Subaru Triathlon Series at Spanish Banks yesterday.

Jordan Rapp was the fastest with a time of three hours, 53 minutes and 17 seconds, followed by Victoria’s Stephen Kilshaw.

Magali Tisseyre, from St.-Sauveur, Que., finished first among the women.

Rapp said that good weather conditions led to peak performance.

“In the morning it was like swimming in a lake,” he said.

“A little bit of wind picked up in the second lap but it was still really nice, and out on the bike course it was sunny with a little bit of a breeze, but not too bad. On the run, same thing, it kept you cool right off the ocean.

“It was sunny and warm and everything people look forward to in a Vancouver summer.”
