WASHINGTON – A trio of Republican candidates has spent nearly a quarter of a billion of their own dollars in the current election cycle, Politico reports.
Meg Whitman, Rick Scott and Linda McMahon — each of whom is still trailing in the polls — have dropped $243 million total out of their own pockets this year.
“I think you’re seeing just more confirmation of a very old cliche, that money can’t buy you love,” said Democratic strategist Dan Gerstein.
