Gordon helps send Hershey Bears to Calder Cup final

Andrew Gordon helped send the Hershey Bears to the American Hockey League Calder Cup final last night.

The Porters Lake forward opened the scoring in the second period as the Bears dumped the Providence Bruins 5-2 to take the AHL best-of-seven semifinal in five games.

Gordon, a seventh-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2004, has five goals and two assists in 16 games. The Bears also feature Bedford forward Andrew Joudrey.

Brad Marchand of Hammonds Plains scored for the Bruins in the loss and finishes the playoffs with 15 points in 16 games, eighth in the league. Andrew Bodnarchuk, another Hammonds Plains native, also saw his season come to a close.

Hershey will play the winner of the other semifinal between the Houston Aeros and the Manitoba Moose.
