Grand Theft Auto IV hits stores tonight

It’s going to be a late night (and quite possibly a sick day tomorrow) for gamers around the world as one of the most anticipated titles in years hits the streets.

Grand Theft Auto IV, published by Rockstar Games, will hit store shelves at midnight tonight and many retailers will be open to make sure the public can get a copy of the first GTA title to be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game, which has players take control of a violent criminal as he works his way up in the underworld of the fictitious Liberty City, is the ninth in this highly successful franchise that has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, yet has come under fire for its graphic content.

GTA IV is rated M for Mature and is not supposed to be sold to anyone under the age of 17.

Grand Theft Auto IV goes on sale tonight at midnight and two of Canada’s biggest electronics retailers are ready to help you get gaming right away.

All Future Shop locations across Canada will open at midnight with the exception of Quebec and Sudbury, Ont., which will open early at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

Any customer purchasing GTA IV in-store at Future Shop at midnight will receive a free baseball cap (while supplies last).
