The Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia recently presented three non-profit organizations with grants aimed at increasing leadership in rural communities.
The foundation, during its AGM and a subsequent focus group, determined flourishing rural areas need effective volunteer leaders.

However, many volunteers have few resources. The successful volunteer applicants included the Bay St. Lawrence Community Centre, the Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute and the Digby Area Learning Association. No dollar amounts have been released.
